« At Casa Tua Charles ! » Carlo Vanzini, the commentator of the Italian channel Sky, which broadcasts the Formula 1 on the other side of the Alps, spoke these words for the victory of Charles Leclerc in Monaco on May 26th.

On May 26, the Monegasque won his home Grand Prix for the first time after several years of frustrations and failed attempts. In 2024, he also won his other home race: the Italian Grand Prix.

This is the second time that Charles Leclerc has allowed Ferrari to impose himself in front of his fans after 2019. With these two successes, he marked his 2024 season in a very beautiful way, but also his collaboration with the Italian team and even his career more broadly.

After his victory on the other side of the Alps, the Predestined was asked in the post-race press conference about these two victories and their special flavors. It feels good to win on both circuits, Leclerc replied. For sure it means more for Monaco as a Monegasque and in Monza as a Ferrari driver. So yes, both victories are very, very special feelings and I wouldn't want to choose between the two circuits because they are very, very special. »

Charles Leclerc was also questioned about a potential participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a hypothesis that he clearly did not rule out. I would really like to do Le Mans one dayhe said. Le Mans is definitely one of the races I would like to participate in one day. I don't know when, but I hope it will be soon. » Soon but probably not next year, since the Formula 1 World Championship calendar and the 24 Hours of Le Mans will overlap in 2025 with the Canadian Grand Prix on the same weekend as the Sarthe classic (June 14-15).

The Triple Crown in sight?

With Charles Leclerc having already won the Monaco Grand Prix, he has done a third of the work to be able to glean this fictitious title that is the Triple Crown (Monaco Grand Prix + 24 Hours of Le Mans + 500 Miles of Indianapolis). If he plans to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, he still has to win it, he could come close.

However, the Monegasque does not really have the goal of winning this honorary title that only Graham Hill holds to date. He was asked about participating in the Indianapolis 500 Miles. The American race is much less part of his plans than F1 or Le Mans and " is not something (that he has) particularly considered "even if he doesn't close the door to rub against it" maybe one day ».

Today, only Pablo Montoya and Fernando Alonso can claim this title because they only have one of the three races left to win (Le Mans for the Colombian and Indianapolis for the Spaniard), even if it seems more likely for Alonso. He had rubbed shoulders with the 500 Miles in 2020, finishing in a respectable 20e place, showing that it was not an easy thing to win the three most prestigious races in the world. It remains to be seen whether Leclerc takes inspiration from this.

Before going to Le Mans, priority to F1 and a world champion title! There will always be time to go to endurance and Le Mans in the second part of the F1 career
