The abandonment of the FIA investigation does not mean the end of the affair Wolff, far from there. A quick reminder of the facts: Tuesday, the governing body of the Formula 1 announced the opening of an investigation by its compliance department for a possible case of conflict of interest between Toto Wolff, team director Classic Mercedes for sale, and Susie Wolff, Managing Director of the F1 Academy and therefore a member of the FOM staff.
Two days later, this Thursday, the FIA sent a new press release indicating that it no longer had any concerns regarding the possible transmission of confidential information between an employee of the FOM and a team principal, in this case between Susie and Toto Wolff, ending an investigation which hadn't really started.
The day after the abandonment of this investigation, the Wolff couple reacted via two press releases, one published by Susie Wolff on her social networks, the other by Toto Wolff via the Mercedes team. The former driver and now head of the F1 Academy said she “will not be intimidated” by this whole affair and assures that he wants to discover “who is behind this campaign”.
The Wolffs ready to launch legal action?
“When I read the press release published by the FIA last night, my first reaction was: 'Is that all?' Over the past two days, insinuations about my integrity have been made in public and during briefings, but no one from the FIA has spoken to me directly, confides Susie Wolff. I may have been the collateral damage of an unsuccessful attack on someone else, or the target of a failed attempt to discredit myself personally, but I have worked too hard to have my reputation undermined. question by an unfounded press release. “I received insults online about my work and my family. I will not be intimidated and intend to continue my action until I find out who is behind this campaign and who has misled the media. What happened this week is simply not enough. As a sport we must, and deserve, demand better. »
For his part, Toto Wolff indicated that his couple and Mercedes were “currently in active legal exchange with the FIA” about this matter, and expects “full transparency about what happened and why, and we have expressly reserved all legal rights”, without making further comments. Susie and Toto Wolff could then, according to their press releases, take legal action in order to shed light on this matter.
