Despite rumors, Vettel shies away from F1 return: 'At peace with my decision'

Sebastian Vettel has assured that he will not return to Formula 1 in the near future, considering that “some things do not go together” for a possible return.

His presence in the paddock, which is becoming less and less rare, allowed the most curious to ask him questions about his own future. In recent months, Sebastian Vettel has been linked with a return to Formula 1, as a potential replacement for Lewis Hamilton in Mercedes Benz notably. The four-time world champion was asked about his plans and a possible comeback in Formula 1…

“I have a very distinct way of doing things. I enjoy my time, especially with the children, he replied to the British television channel Channel 4, in Imola. Obviously, I miss Formula 1 on days like these, when the sun is out, where the stands are full. I would like to be in a competitive car and be on the starting grid. (…) There are a lot of things that I miss, but there are also things that don’t go together. The decision was very difficult to make, it still hurts, but I think it's better now, after a year and a half of being away. I am at peace with my decision and enjoying my new life. »

A return to Formula 1 in the near future therefore seems to be impossible for Sebastian Vettel... but the German could well return to motorsport one day. Last April, the 36-year-old driver took the wheel of the Porsche 963 for a day of testing at Motorland Aragon, with a view to a possible entry into the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Finally, due to lack of time and experience on board the German LMDh, Porsche and Vettel decided not to take the gamble. Postponed ?
