Kimi Antonelli "very frustrated" after his elimination in Q2

Having finished the Qatar Grand Prix on a high note, Kimi Antonelli's momentum was halted this Saturday in Abu Dhabi. This morning, a communication error by his team during Free Practice 3 resulted in a collision with Yuki tsunoda upon leaving his pit box. The rookie's misfortunes continued throughout the afternoon. Fourteenth after Q2, the Italian's qualifying session ended there. He didn't have the opportunity to compete in Q3 and will have to start far back on the grid.

His past results, however, demonstrate that all hope is not lost for the race. In Las Vegas two weeks ago, the Italian started from 17th position on the grid before securing a podium finish thanks to the double disqualification of McLaren.

Nevertheless, he would have liked to make things easier for himself, and remains upset about the outcome of his Saturday on the Yas Marina circuit. "It's very frustrating, I had a lot of trouble with the rear of the car in Q2, it was difficult," he confided to Canal+ microphones after the day. I was much faster in Q1 than in Q2, I'm really struggling to understand what happened.

He nevertheless remains hopeful of being able to complete his first season as a driver of Formula 1 in beauty: "It won't be an easy race on Sunday; tire degradation will be significant. We'll have to maximize everything to have the best possible race."
