Since their appearance, and particularly since their broadcast on television, radios have always been a means both of informing one's own drivers and of misleading one's rivals. Teams often do not hesitate to make coded messages or fake calls to try to trap the competition when it comes to strategy, for example. This gave rise to some phantom “boxes, boxes” to try to see the reaction of the opponent, especially when it comes to playing a victory or an important position at the finish.
Sometimes, radio can also be subject to discord and be very expensive, like the recent episode with Yuki tsunoda when he was picked up by the patrol for calling the other pilots “fucking retards (sic)”. Racing Bulls was then fined 40 euros, 000 of which was suspended on the condition that no similar incident occurs again until the end of the season. One example among many.
There are also team instructions as was possible McLaren in Hungary with Oscar piastri et Lando Norris. Or even the angry outbursts of others, which do not necessarily work in their favor, potentially creating a bad image for them. Yuki Tsunoda, whose radios had almost become memes on networks, to name just one.
Thus, certain actors did not hesitate to ask that the distribution system perhaps be revised in the future so that the public does not have access to everything. For others, this would not be a good thing for the sport which thrives on this. Frédéric Vasseur is one of them, the boss of the Team recognizing that this would defeat the purpose of the show while admitting that it is necessary to find the right balance.
« We must also keep in mind that we are the only sport in the world where the drivers speak on the radio during exercise or during the race., recalls the French leader. I'm not sure it would be much better if we put a microphone on a football player. Or even on the referee. However, this means we also need to calm down. Or we have to mute the mic, but I'm not sure that's progress for the show."

I don't remember that at the time of the great Senna/Prost type duels, radio existed (maybe I have amnesia)... but we had the show!
