Liberation for Mercedes Benz who signs his second consecutive podium! After George Russell's 3rd place in Montreal, it's the turn of Lewis Hamilton to climb on the famous box. He had not tasted the pleasure of appearing on the podium since the Mexican Grand Prix last year.
Surprised at the start, the Briton had to fight to stay in contact with the race lead and it was the last stint, on soft tyres, when his competitors were on hard tyres, which made the difference. After having experienced a nightmare race in Canada, according to him, Hamilton got back on track with his best result since the start of the season.

“It was a good day, a solid weekend. I thank the team a lot, they practiced so much on the pit stops, the strategies, they were spot on. Unfortunately I had a bad start like Lando (Norris), I then had to fight to get back to where I was. I tell myself that with a good start, we wouldn't have finished so far from Max (Verstappen) and Lando.
Tenders were the plan all along. Hard tires were never an option. In terms of racing, all the overtaking was tight, and that's how it should be. With Carlos Sainz I think at one point we touched our wheels but it was OK, at the limit. »
Mercedes showed all its potential in Catalonia and above all proved that it can stand up to the McLaren, to Classic Ferrari for sale or even to Red Bull…The return of the Silver Arrows will they return to the top faster than expected?
