It's rare to see a team manager as happy as his driver after a victory and yet, Frédéric Vasseur had a smile from ear to ear at the finish of the Italian Grand Prix! The Monegasque offered the boss of the Team his first victory at Monza, in front of thousands of ecstatic tifosi. The fruit of an exceptional driver in tire management but above all, of a long-thought-out strategy, risky but profitable.

Facing the fast ones McLaren, Ferrari tried the gamble of a one-stop race for its two drivers, a choice that worked for Charles Leclerc, who had to hold his hard tires for around forty laps and resist the return ofOscar piastri at the end of the race. The day after a very dull day during qualifying, it is with radiant joy that Frédéric Vasseur savors this 2nd victory of the season after Monaco.

Frédéric Vasseur after the Italian Grand Prix : “For Charles [Leclerc], it’s the perfect season with Monaco and Monza! For us too, it’s exceptional, and for the team it’s very good, the way it went with the strategy which was superb, I’m really happy for everyone and for Charles in particular, but also for the whole team. (…) I was trying to stay super calm on the wall [of the pits], you never know what can happen, it was a bit tense with the strategy and the tires. I only realized at the end… now I’m going to have to give myself a day or two to sleep it off and it will be better after!”

"We had [the idea of] a single stop from the beginning, at one point we said to ourselves that it was going to be tense, then we degraded [the tires] very little so the strategy was quite clear from the start. But hey, you never know, you are never safe from tire degradation or a problem. (…) What did I learn today? Not much, but that's not the point, I don't care what I learn today! I just want to enjoy it because you don't win every day at Monza and we will have time, Monday-Tuesday, to think about all that and prepare for Baku."
