Gabriel Bortoleto, Audi's new Lord of the Rings

Current leader of Formula 2 despite his rookie status, the Brazilian has landed his F1 steering wheel and will move to Sauber from 2025. A well-deserved promotion for the man who will then be the face of Audi in the premier category.

Could it be otherwise? At a time when a horde of young drivers are about to make a spectacular entrance onto the grid F1 Next year, how could the top category have justified the non-starter of the one who was crowned champion of F3 last year and who is well on his way to becoming champion of F2 in a few weeks in Abu Dhabi? A youngster, a Brazilian, a country that has long since reached the return of a Brazilian to the grid (Drugovich not counting, alas for him!), sponsors including Banco do Brasil ready to invest in a new Auriverde hope and Audi that wants to consolidate its commercial positions in Latin America. But will the cocktail work in the current turmoil of Audi AG and the German automobile industry?
