After a Sprint race " a bit rubbish ", the qualifying session for the United States Grand Prix was short-lived for Isack Hadjar. The Frenchman lost control of his Racing Bulls at turn six, hitting the tire barrier and causing a red flag. This is only the second time the Parisian has been eliminated from the first part of qualifying, after being hindered by Carlos Sainz at Monza. Isack Hadjar will therefore start from the back of the grid for the United States Grand Prix. His teammate Liam Lawson qualified 12th.
"I made a mistake. There's clearance, but at that speed it's not enough. I felt the car suddenly go off, that's why I ended up in the wall. I could have anticipated it and not arrived at that speed, admits the rookie to the Canal+ microphoneIt was a mistake on my part. It was very sudden. I can't afford to make any mistakes, the car has been really complicated to drive since the start of the weekend. That's how it is.
Isack Hadjar takes responsibility after his accident
Visibly frustrated by his misstep, the number 6 nevertheless reassures after the shock: “ I'm fine ". The Racing Bulls driver accuses " a surprising turn of the wheel." "There was nothing I could have done to catch the car. However, I certainly could have done something before the turn, he admits to the microphone of the F1. I misjudged the situation, and honestly, at this speed, it's unforgivable."
His steering wheel, already put to the test, was spared this time, with Isack Hadjar instead venting his frustration on his helmet after his accident. The car is fast, that's why I'm really upset. It's difficult to be on the bench while the others are driving. I really want to be on the track, so it's very frustrating. " he concludes. The Frenchman will return to the track for the start of the Grand Prix, to be followed from 21 p.m. on Canal+ and in live text on AUTOhebdo.fr.
