Arrived almost a year ago to the day at the head of the Formula 1 at A arrow, it was at Spa-Francorchamps that the departure of Bruno Famin was announced, as was the case for his predecessor, Otmar Szafnauer. The French boss explained the reasons behind such a choice, which he presents as his own, in view of the “transformation” projects of the site. Viruses-Châtillon. If the former technical director of Peugeot Sport indicates that the news is not yet official, its choice shows that the project is already well underway, and that it should ultimately result in a cessation of F1 engine operations for the Diamond brand.
“I haven't received the news, the fact is that there are a lot of projects going on at the moment. For the past year, I have held a dual role, that of vice-president of motorsport for Alpine and for the Group Renault, as well as Team Principal of the Formula 1 team. There are a number of new projects coming up, including a very impactful transformation project for Viry-Châtillon. »
A decision taken out of “respect” towards the Viry-Châtillon teams
Famin also talks about the men and women of the Viry-Châtillon factory, Renault's centerpiece in Formula 1 for many years. Losange engines have won world titles on several occasions, most recently from 2010 to 2013 with Red Bull et Sebastian Vettel. If this chapter closes, it signals the start of a transformation, which the vice-president of motorsport of the Renault Group wishes to carry out and support with all his time and energy.
“We owe respect to the people at Viry, who have worked incredibly hard on this new generation of F1 engines for 2026, and which may never see the light of day. They therefore deserve to be given the time necessary to ensure, if it is confirmed, because it remains a project, to ensure this transformation. There are also all the Group's other motorsport projects to manage. So it was a decision that was natural for me, and I'm quite proud [of having made it]. »
Among the motorsport projects over which Bruno Famin will keep control is the team Alpine in the World ChampionshipEndurance. The A arrow makes its return to the premier category, Hypercar, this season, and is preparing to compete in Austin at the end of August.

a good guy but not at F1 level, like his employer! It's a bad guy's world, politics takes precedence over sport. we may regret it but that’s how it is. Renault should have stopped several years ago, not an engine customer, a constantly declining image. 2 penny coins that break are not solved, the problem has been going on since 1977! from time to time it works but overall they are amateurs who think who are not. an Italian friend told me that the French are Italians who think they are Germans! minus the color...

Not sure that Bruno FAMIN had a choice when he was named Team Principal ofAlpine F1 a year ago. Refocusing on the WEC and the future of Viry-Châtillon is certainly more in line with his personal DNA than the backwater of F1, in which the king of cheaters, "Il Magnifico" Flavio, felt immediately at ease following his appointment as Advisor!
