  • The competition may well get closer, even surpass it in the exercise of qualifications, but Max Verstappen is unsinkable on Sunday! The Dutchman won the Spanish Grand Prix, his 61st career victory and his 7th success in 2024. Starting on the front row, the three-time world champion quickly took control of the race from the third lap before escaping in the lead, with a mastered strategy against its rivals.
  • Imperturbable, the pilot Red Bull was especially so at the start: packed into the grass by Lando Norris, Max Verstappen saw George Russell take the lead thanks to a sublime overtake at the first corner, going from fourth to first place in the first hectometers. However, the Briton quickly gave in to the top speed of the RB20.

  • The Dutchman then resisted the pressure put on him by Lando Norris, especially in the last stint where the Briton – like at Imola a few weeks earlier – got back on the heels of the leader in the final laps thanks to great pace on the soft tires . A beautiful long-distance duel between the two rivals and friends, which tends to be repeated over the weekends... Thanks to his second place in Barcelona, the driver McLaren returned to second place in the Drivers' championship.
  • At the end of a very strategic race, with different choices in terms of tires and the number of pit stops, it is Lewis Hamilton who won the last round of the podium. The seven-time world champion, very offensive, beat his teammate George Russell thanks to a more efficient final stint on soft tires and signs his first podium of the season.
  • A more anonymous race on the other hand for the Team Ferrari: never really in the game against McLaren and Mercedes, the Reds did not succeed in their strategic moves and finished grouped with 5th place in Charles Leclerc and 6nd place in Carlos Sainz. The two drivers almost came into contact in the first laps, with the Spaniard muscularly overtaking the Monegasque.
  • Starting in the Top 8 on the grid, the two drivers Alpine avoided the hitches to both finish in the points, for the second time in a row. Despite a failed first pit stop, Pierre Gasly had a very good race, managing to keep a pace close to that of the Ferraris at the start, and crossed the line in 9th place. Less in legs than his teammate in Spain, Esteban Ocon still gleaned the point for 10th place. A good overall result for the French team, which exceeds Haas and climbs to 7th place in the Manufacturers' championship with 8 points.
  • In the championship, Max Verstappen increases his lead in the Drivers' championship with 219 points ahead of his new runner-up Lando Norris with 150 points and Charles Leclerc with 148 points. Among the Manufacturers, Red Bull remains in the lead with 330 points ahead of Ferrari which has 270 points at the end of this 10th round.

A GP which started well with magnificent overtaking before becoming a strategic race which prevented me from taking a nap unlike certain races since the start of the year. The RB20 is not the RB19 but in the end, it is always the Batavian who wins. Impressive especially since, at the same time, TexMex is really nowhere...

We are so used to his victories that we forget that these are real exploits these days. The RB became the 3rd or 4th car in the field. Verstappen truly has incredible abilities.
