18 years, 10 months and 1 day

On Saturday, Oliver Bearman took the start of his first Grand Prix of Formula 1 at the age of 18 years, 10 months and 1 day, which makes him the 3rd youngest driver in the history of the discipline behind Max Verstappen (17 years, 5 months and 15 days, in 2015) and Lance stroll (18 years, 4 months and 26 days, in 2017). Above all, the Briton became the youngest driver in the history of the Team Ferrari, far ahead Charles Leclerc (21 years, 5 months and 1 day, in 2019).

6 point

Ollie Bearman is also the 3rd youngest driver to score points in Formula 1, a record also held by Max Verstappen (17 years, 5 months and 29 days, in 2015). In Jeddah, the protégé of the Ferrari clan became the 79th driver to finish in the points in his first Grand Prix: the last to have established such a performance was Nyck de Vries, at the 2022 Italian GP. Common point between the two drivers: both replaced a starting driver because of an attack of appendicitis!

7th place

With his 7th place at the finish of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Oliver Bearman also achieved an excellent result for a rookie. We have to go back to the 2015 Australian Grand Prix (Felipe Nasr, 5th) to see a driver achieve a better performance in his first Grand Prix than that of the Briton. On the current grid, only two drivers did better for their first Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton (3rd in the 2007 Australian GP) and Kevin Magnussen (2nd in the 2014 Australian GP).

4 Britons in the points

For the first time since the 1968 French Grand Prix (John Surtees, Jackie Stewart, Vic Elford and Piers Courage), four British drivers scored points in the same race (George Russell 6th, Ollie Bearman 7th, Lando Norris 8th and Lewis Hamilton 9th). Oliver Bearman also became the first British driver to score a Top 10 in his first Grand Prix since Paul Di Resta in 2011.

52 years

The last time a driver made his F1 debut for Scuderia Ferrari was Arturo Merzario in 1972: Ollie Bearman has just ended this 52-year long streak without a rookie in a Ferrari. in F1. The Briton is also the fourth consecutive driver to score points on his Grand Prix debut for Ferrari, after Ignazio Giunti and Clay Regazzoni in 1970, and thus Arturo Merzario in 1972.

Very good performance from a rookie like that of Lawson at Zandvoort in the rain last year. Enough to regret not seeing more young people at the start when there is a permanent contract on the grid and veterans such as Hulk, Bottas, KMag and young people who do not perform like Zhou and Sargeant!

I can't imagine the performance of Pourchaire or Hadjar, also reserve pilots, in such a situation! "4 Britons in the points" Do you have the following statistic on your tablets, between 10/09/78 and 21/03/82 (which represents 49 GPs) the fact that there has always been a French driver in the points (first 6!!) with the highlight being the 82 French GP: 4 first places (Arnoux, Prost, Pironi, Tambay)
