Interview with Nico Hülkenberg: “Before leaving, I have a wish to make”

Since signing with Audi, the winner of the 24 2015 Hours of Le Mans has been thinking big and dreaming of sixth place in the Manufacturers' championship for the Haas team which has allowed him this convincing return to Formula 1. Today, for the German, more nothing is impossible.

After a rather eventful winter with the ousting of Günther Steiner, the main team, few observers would have risked placing Haas to 7th in the Manufacturers' Championship before the 10th round. Did you also expect a more difficult start?

It's a completely different first part of the season than what we expected. No one would have bet on such a positive and significant turnaround. Given our results last year, it was illusory to hope for anything good as we had burned ourselves. Especially on Sunday. We therefore lowered our expectations and objectives over the winter. Once the season started, we started working with the car and we were positively surprised by the work of the team, the engineers, the designers, the guys on the team. The reality is that we have a much better set than we initially thought. So, yes, we were surprised.
