In 2023, Jack Doohan is promoted to reserve pilot after joining theAlpine Academy twelve months ago.

Native of Gold Coast, the twenty-year-old Australian made his official debut last November during the first free practice session of the Mexico Grand Prix, where he took the wheel of the A522 ofEsteban Ocon.

He also made a second appearance in Abu Dhabi before completing post-season testing for the team at the same circuit.

This year, Jack will benefit from an increased private testing program, alongside his commitments with Virtuosi Racing in Formula 2 for his second year in the antechamber of the premier category.

Last year, he made a good impression in the anteroom of the F1 with three victories allowing him to climb to sixth place in the general classification.

« I'm really looking forward to working alongside Esteban and Pierre this year, commented Doohan. This is an extremely strong duo for the team. Both will provide good data and help in the development of a fast car. For my part, I want to gain as much experience as possible from them over the year. I already started working with Esteban last year, notably during my two appearances in FP1. I don't know Pierre yet, so it will be great to welcome him and learn from him.

I need to be reliable and regular while knowing how to adapt quickly. I would have the advantage of being able to stay sharp as I am engaged this season in Formula 2. I will do my best to help the F1 team with my feedback on my sessions. These may be details, but I hope I can convey good information ».

Doohan thus succeeds his compatriot Oscar piastri. Alpine, which saw the former Formula 2 champion leave for McLaren at the end of a legal-sporting saga which is ruining his summer, hopes to experience a calmer season on this front in 2023.
