This may be the last major obstacle on the road to the title for the drivers McLaren en F1, Lando Norris et Oscar piastriThe Las Vegas Grand Prix has not been kind to the papaya-colored cars over the last two seasons, with Lando Norris' sixth place last year being McLaren's best result on the street circuit laid out around the Strip.

Seeing the championship leader top the second free practice session of the day was therefore a good thing for the Woking team. Norris himself admitted to immediately feeling more comfortable in the "Sin City," which is part of the path to better results.

"It's always tricky in Las Vegas."he told the official Formula 1 website. "I still think the feeling in the car is better than last year, so that's a positive thing. I felt it from the first lap of the day, so it's definitely a good thing."

During a session interrupted by two red flags, Norris therefore set the fastest time, but he remains cautious about the performances of his rivals, notably Kimi Antonelli, who was only 29 thousandths of a second behind in the Classic Mercedes for sale.

“I had a good feeling, but ultimately we weren’t able to do much running in FP2. I wasn’t able to do a full stint with a full tank of fuel, for example. The pace is there, it’s close between several cars, and some drivers weren’t even able to set a fast lap. I think we made progress between the two practice sessions, and I hope to make further progress before FP3 on Saturday.”

The driver wearing number 4, however, concluded with a statement that perfectly illustrates his positive and determined mindset: "We will be fighting for pole position." We'll find out this Saturday…
