The Belgian Grand Prix marked a slight setback for Lando Norris. With good momentum, the Englishman never managed to put everything together during his weekend in the Ardennes. Lagging behind in qualifying compared to his recent performances, the driver McLaren then had a hectic Sunday.
Between a tricky new start and an error in the first moments which made him fall beyond the Top 5, the native of Bristol was somewhat feverish. If he tried to recover what he had lost from the start by slightly shifting his strategy, Lando Norris faced the facts, taking the checkerboard in 6e place (became a 5e after the disqualification of George Russell) just behind Max Verstappen who managed to widen the gap at the top of the championship even though he started 11the.
« The first turn ruined all my hopes, he conceded. I tried to avoid contact with those inside and misjudged the vibrator causing me to bounce and go wide. It's a bit stupid, to be quite honest. It was almost embarrassing – in fact, it was."

If he was then able to rely on the pace of his MCL38 to avoid being completely let go by the leading group, Lando Norris admitted his inability to overtake despite the characteristics of Spa-Francorchamps and especially his proximity to Max Verstappen . Despite 14 laps behind the Dutchman and often able to use DRS, the Englishman ended up facing the facts.
« It was impossible, he adds. There wasn't even a fight because I couldn't get close enough [from him]. When I got closer I lost everything in the second sector so I couldn't do anything about it."
With the Belgian frustration behind him, the Briton now turns to the holidays of which he recognizes the “ need a break to recharge the batteries ».
