Twenty-five years after his debut in Formula 1, Fernando Alonso is getting ready to embark on a new season, still with Aston MartinBut this time with a car designed by Adrian Newey. Following the unveiling of the AMR26 livery, which will take to the track during today's Bahrain tests, the Spaniard made no secret of his enthusiasm at the prospect of embarking on a 24-round world championship alongside Adrian Newey and Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll.

“This is an exciting new chapter for Aston Martin as we adapt to new rules, new engines, and new ideas. With Lawrence and Adrian, we have two of the most determined and competitive people I have ever met at the helm of the team.”

While the first Grand Prix in Australia, from March 6th to 8th, will provide an initial indication of the competitive landscape, Alonso knows that it is primarily the pace of development of the teams throughout the year that will determine the top contenders in the championship. The two-time world champion therefore hopes to have a solid platform at the start of these first tests in Bahrain, and to see its development potential. Not missing the boat will be crucial in this first year of the new regulations.

“The last few years haven’t been easy, but we’ve learned a lot, and that experience always makes us stronger. Everyone on this team shares the same hunger for competition, and I’ve seen the considerable effort behind the scenes to provide us with a car that we can develop throughout the season. I’m eager to get out on track and develop the car as we head to Bahrain this week. I can’t wait to give it my all and help make Aston Martin stronger and more competitive.”

Our friend Fernando is still as motivated as ever, and I hope that with Newey, the podiums will return. The car is technically magnificent, the only regret is… the second driver brings nothing to the team, which is a shame! Now for testing in Bahrain 🇧🇭, and Fernando is 200% motivated… 😎👍. alainkf1@pt.lu
