This is the big meeting of Haas this season ! The United States Grand Prix is the traditional home race for the American team, despite the new arrivals of Miami and Las Vegas on the calendar. Formula 1.
This year more than ever, the anticipation is high from the American team, since a major development is expected this weekend in Austin. The VF-23 will be thoroughly revised and should adopt an aerodynamic concept close to that used by Red Bull…and by the entire field this season.
An update welcomed with joy by the drivers, Kevin Magnussen first: the Dane has only scored one point in the last 12 Grands Prix! Despite the impatience to try his Haas 2.0, the Scandinavian remains cautious about the performance of his car in Texas.
“It's really positive for the team to have this perspective, to have new tools to play with, and hopefully we can find more performance. But I don't think it's realistic to expect miracles in the first race in Austin, declared “K-Mag” ahead of the United States Grand Prix. Of course, that's what we all want at night when we go to sleep. But in reality, it will take us one or two races to understand what is happening. I'm really happy that we can put this behind us and move forward. »
Haas “does not know how effective evolution will be”
A caution shared by Günther Steiner. The director of the American team admits that his team will have a time of discovery and adaptation with the new VF-23 in Austin, and does not expect a leap forward as significant as that experienced by McLaren earlier in the season.
“I don’t know how effective the evolution will be. The best thing is we're going in the direction we want to go for next year, and we'll learn a lot this year for next season. At least we know we're doing things moving forward, we're not sitting here waiting for the season to end. We will work hard until the end”, underlined the Italian leader.
