During season 2025 of F1Several major moments marked the return to business of Max VerstappenWhile the Dutchman was never completely out of the title race – as evidenced by the pole positions he secured early in the year, when McLaren was dominant – he had to work hard. Among the moments that can be remembered as such, his victory at Suzuka, or the one achieved at Monza far ahead of the two Papayas, are certainly on the list of highlights.

In this instance, more than any other moment of class delivered by the team leader Red BullThe Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola particularly caught the attention of the FIA jury. As a reminder, during this race weekend where the Classic Ferrari for sale had qualified poorly before making an exciting comeback the following day, Oscar piastri had managed to secure pole position ahead of Max Verstappen and George Russell. Lando Norris was then in fourth place on the grid.

From the outset, concentration was already key, as no fewer than five cars quickly found themselves in a tight pack. Oscar Piastri, in particular, who had led throughout the start/finish straight, faced a choice: defend on the inside against George Russell tucked in behind him, or move to the outside to prevent Max Verstappen, who was slightly further back, from catching up. While the inside of the corner is often considered more dangerous, the Australian opted to block the Briton.

However, while everyone else decided to brake a few meters before the first left-hand corner, Max Verstappen executed a perfectly timed braking maneuver. Delaying his braking as much as possible, he unexpectedly pulled alongside the leader, finding himself wheel-to-wheel with Oscar Piastri, who was forced to widen his line slightly. Having squeezed through a tiny gap, hugging the inside kerb, the four-time world champion then unleashed a powerful acceleration, immediately opening up a gap on his pursuer.

At the finish, Max Verstappen ultimately secured victory in this Grand Prix, while Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished second and third respectively. For this performance, the Dutchman was rewarded, further highlighting his memorable season, despite having clinched the world title at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Absolutely deserved... especially since Piastri isn't exactly the easiest to beat! It's a shame we didn't have more clashes like this in 2025.

Yes, Verstappen is perfect... when his team finds all the "systems" to "improve the car," after qualifying, and in parc fermé with the FIA's "master's" absolution... But for 2026, all that's over... All the good people have left Red Bull for next year, even Max's number one engineer... and where did they all go??? To Aston Martin, and their new engine supplier... Honda!! We'll see...
