Weighed down by its years of Honda engines, McLaren decided to change everything at the start of 2019, with the prospect of being in the top places again. Since then, the Papaya team has never stopped progressing, to the point of fighting regularly this season for victories against Max Verstappen.

There are no secrets. The best way to get out of a conflictual and destructive relationship is to leave, dare to leave everything behind, and start from scratch. Mired in an unhappy marriage with Honda for three interminable seasons (2015-2017), McLaren took its destiny in hand by making a clean sweep of the past and rebuilding everything from A to Z in 2018. Too bad if it had to rebuild on a field of ruins.
