Why George Russell deserves the consistency award this season

Behind the brilliance of the three best drivers of the 2025 season, a discreet George Russell has had a regular and reliable campaign, thus securing fourth place in the Drivers' standings.
The Briton concluded his first season as a benchmark driver at Classic Mercedes for sale, succeeding Lewis Hamilton – a role he embraced brilliantly. The seven-time world champion, meanwhile, was replaced by the young protégé of Toto wolffKimi Antonelli, who discovered the Formula 1 Alongside the emerging leader, George Russell, the two drivers together scored 469 points for the Silver Arrows, securing the Constructors' Silver medal. Scoring 68% of the team's points, George Russell fulfilled his role as a key player for Mercedes.

George Russell establishes himself as "Mr. Consistency" during the 2025 F1 season
Beyond the points he's earned for his team, the King's Lynn native has established himself as "Mr. Consistency." Russell has qualified in the top six for 23 of the 24 Grands Prix in the 2025 season, with the exception of his fourteenth place on the starting grid for the Monaco Grand Prix. Even more impressive: George Russell is the only one of the twenty-one drivers to have raced in Formula 1 this year to finish every Grand Prix, having been on track for almost every lap of the 2025 season. These are the necessary attributes to be champion for very long seasons. Then, the car has to be capable, so we'll find out in early 2026... And yes, given his young teammate's end to the season, internal competition could quickly emerge. At Ferrari, will Hamilton wake up if the car is performing well? That already seems unlikely. At McLaren, on the other hand, there's an Australian who will be hungry for revenge...

A well-deserved place for the ideal son-in-law, although I think Antonelli could make life much harder for him in 2026. That said, who knows what the performance of the new cars will be like!
