For the second year in a row at Monza, Esteban Ocon achieved a frustrating fifteenth place in qualifying. The driver Haas returned to his Q2 exit at the microphone of the F1 : " Overall disappointing session » recognized the Frenchman.
He also explained his disapproval of the chosen strategy, which he had commented on the radio during the session: " We shouldn't have found ourselves in such a difficult position in Q1. We didn't have the right track position, I think." he confessed.
« In Q2, I didn't maximize my lap, the car felt worse in Q2 than in Q1. I struggled with front wheel locks and understeer at high speeds. Overall, it was closer to the balance I felt at the beginning of the year, regretted the Haas driver. So we have to analyze what went wrong, and I hope it won't be the case again on Sunday. We'll fight hard during the race, as we always do, and I hope we can take something away. " commented Esteban Ocon.
Speaking to Canal+, the Norman also expressed his optimism before Sunday's race. Anything can happen right now, especially considering how close it's been since the start of the season. In two tenths of a second, there can be five or seven drivers, a small thing in the race can mean we can take advantage or lose, it can go either way. We'll try to have a good race. »
Starting from fifteenth place last year at Monza, Ocon only moved up one place to finish the Grand Prix fourteenth.
