  • It’s a destination that was missing from his collection. Max Verstappen won the Chinese Grand Prix for the first time in his career this Sunday, at the end of a long walk of health which never saw him tremble. The Dutchman, author of pole position and winner the day before the first sprint race of the season, continues his absolute faultless performance apart from his mechanical retirement in Australia. Winner with a 15-second lead, he took the opportunity to regain his lead at the top of the world championship.
  • As often in recent times, it was behind the Dutchman that we had to focus our attention for entertainment, with an intense fight for the podium. Party 4th, Lando Norris has as often shown a breathtaking pace in the race, he who thought that this Chinese weekend would be the worst of his start to the season. By taking advantage of a free stop (see below), the Briton managed to finish 2nd in the race.
  • The last place on the podium was decided behind between Charles Leclerc and Sergio Pérez. Very comfortable in race pace throughout the first part of the race, the Monegasque was unable to resist the Red Bull of the Mexican, who signs a 4th podium in 5 Grands Prix. Leclerc nevertheless finished 4th, ahead of his teammate Carlos Sainz, in more difficulty than during his last outings in racing configuration, conceding 10 seconds to the little prince of the rock.
  • Behind the nine drivers from the five leading teams (only Lance stroll missing), it is Nico Hulkenberg who managed to grab the last point at stake. The German took advantage of the chaos around him and a very serious race to take 10th place. Eleventh, Esteban Ocon remained in ambush for a long time waiting for an incident to occur in the top 10 to try to get the first point of the season.Alpine. But the Norman must be content with an 11th place, thus validating the new flat bottom provided by the team.enstone. Pierre Gasly, who did not benefit from the improvements, finished 13th.
  • Note that the race was marked by a virtual safety car having transformed into a safety car following the immobilization of the Sauber of Valtteri Bottas in the 22nd round. A racing event which allowed the majority of drivers to obtain a free stop. Once regrouped, the peloton was very undisciplined, with two racing incidents to be recorded at the time of the restart. At the hairpin, Lance Stroll crashed roughly Daniel Ricciardo without us really knowing why, pushing the Australian to abandon. A few meters further on, it was his teammate who was hit. Yuki tsunoda was indeed affected by Kevin Magnussen, spinning off with unfortunately too much damage to hope to continue.

Fortunately there were 2 restarts and the production showed us what was happening at the end of the peloton because otherwise, there was reason to go back to sleep!
