A decision to increase the spectacle on the track and consequently the chances of overtaking? On a track like Singapore where overtaking is not an easy task despite three DRS zones, an additional one will be added this year.
Last year, for the first edition of the Singapore Grand Prix on the new version of the route With the removal of turns 16 to 19 (replaced by an almost straight line with a corner in the middle that is driven flat out), the drivers had asked that DRS be allowed in the area in question. The response was then negative from the FIA, concerned about the presence of the corner on the road despite the assurances given by the drivers. I personally think, and the other drivers too, that it will not be a problem., " he commented at the time Esteban Ocon.
A year later and after a first experiment in 2023, the Federation was finally convinced of the absence of danger, despite the reluctance of some teams last year. Thus, a fourth DRS zone will be put in place, between turns 14 and 16.
What to expect, normally, is more spectacle on the track, especially since it follows on from the one located between turns 13 and 14. Thus, a driver will be able to take advantage of the latter to get closer to the rival in front of him in order to prepare a possible attack at the end of the second, when braking for turn 16. See you on Sunday (14:00 p.m.) to find out for sure whether the addition of this new zone is relevant.

Put the whole lap with DRS, it will be faster. Or remove the wings to make Formula Ford, it would be even simpler and less expensive. Stupid.
