No changes at Red Bull and Racing Bulls for 2025?

While rumors of transfers are increasingly animating the paddock this season, the Red Bull clan has shown its intention to keep its drivers, both within the parent team and at Racing Bulls.

Red Bull Racing, and its little sister Racing Bulls, are always at the heart of debates when it comes to talking about transfers. As for the reigning world champion team, the future of Sergio Pérez remains uncertain since the Mexican's contract ends at the end of the 2024 season. Same situation for Yuki tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo who are, for the moment, without a contract for next year.

At a press conference, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner and Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer both provided some clarifications regarding the situation of their drivers, starting with Sergio Pérez. The latter had a particularly difficult weekend at Imola and as he has shown in past years, one bad performance can be enough for him to lose all his confidence and thus enter an endless negative spiral.

" I do not think so (that Pérez has entered his negative period, Editor’s note). I think he has driven very well so far this year, believes Horner. Obviously, Imola was a tricky Saturday for him, but I think when you look at the effort he has put in at different circuits this year, he is performing well. So over time we will figure out what we are going to do. »

The time for youth at Racing Bulls?

On the Racing Bulls side, the situation is more delicate. Yuki Tsunoda is undeniably the team's number 1 driver at the start of the season, but the Japanese explained at a press conference that he was not closing the door to a departure from the Red Bull fold. His boss, however, hopes to keep him, given the level of performance he displays.

“I think we are very happy with our two drivers, rejoices Peter Bayer. And honestly, we don't waste time talking. We have a very strong line-up and an excellent backup driver. We have great talents coming in F2, F3. And right now, it’s all about focusing on performance. »

Liam Lawson, who showed very good things last season (replacing Daniel Ricciardo, injured in the hand), does not seem, for the moment, to be in Racing Bulls' plans for 2025.

“Liam (Lawson) is a valuable member of the team. He's with us every weekend, he does a lot of work in the simulator. But as I said before, we currently have two drivers in the cars and both are performing well. We don't really discuss the situation by 2025, perhaps because we find ourselves in a luxury situation having a solid pyramid behind us. So the focus is really on the track and the next races until the summer holidays. »

At the time of the eighth race weekend, Red Bull does not seem to want to change its plans for next season. However, there are still many rounds left and the situation may change. If Isack Hadjar continues his momentum and wins the Formula 2 championship, the Frenchman could well enter the discussion…

The renewal of generations is clearly not on the agenda in F1, to the great despair of the young shoots!! So, at least one or two teams are missing from the current grid...
