This is a spectacular recovery thatAlpine managed to perform at the end of the 2024 season of Formula 1. Ninth when approaching the Dutch Grand Prix, synonymous with the first appearance of Oliver Oakes on the pit wall of the French team, the team with the A arrow ended up in sixth place in the Constructors' standings at the end of the year, mainly thanks to a double podium in the rain in Brazil. The performances of Pierre Gasly the last rounds of the past financial year also confirmed the return to form ofAlpine.
Enabling the team based in enstone to start 2025 on the right track? There is no magic, Oliver Oakes told the official F1 website. It’s just about the team working together. We need to produce a better car. One of the big positives for 2024 is that we’ve brought performance to the car. We had a tough start to the season, but the improvements we’ve made have paid off. We’ve done it twice. It shows we’ve got a good group here. »
Like everything else on the Formula 1 grid, Alpine will have to ask the question of the post-2025 period. Should we sacrifice the next season to concentrate resources on the new 2026 regulations?
« It's a big compromise, admits Oakes. We need to give resources to the current car, we also need to prepare for the change in regulations starting in January. There are still many important things to do today that will still be relevant in a year, even with the new regulation changes. On our side, we are working on all fronts. »
« The rules will be different, but you will continue to improve all the performance tools that come into play in developing a car, develops the British. You always have to bring performance, because no matter what the regulations change, that's still the basis of racing. »
For Oakes, preparing for 2026 does not mean sacrificing the coming year, which must serve as a basis for what comes next: " We obviously need to make sure that we allocate enough resources so that we don't fall behind when it comes to the 2026 rules, but we need to keep moving forward in 2025. There is still a lot to be gained. »
In 2025, Alpine will still be able to count on Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman will be associated with Jack Doohan, replacingEsteban Ocon gone to Haas.
