No announcement coming before Miami regarding the future of Carlos Sainz

He is the X factor of the transfer window. The man that everyone has been chasing ever since Lewis Hamilton et Fernando Alonso clarified their future. Not returned to Ferrari in order to make way for the seven-time British world champion next year, Carlos Sainz is looking for a contract and a team for 2025. However, his recent good performances, marked by two victories (Singapore 2023, Australia 2024) in the last seven months, have made him a choice profile for many teams.

In a position of strength, the Sainz clan therefore does not intend to rush. If the doorAston Martin closed with the extension of Fernando Alonso, Red Bull, Mercedes and Audi remain interesting teams and potential landing points for the Madrilenian. Helmut Marko even revealed in China that Audi had submitted a very financially advantageous offer to Sainz which Red Bull could not match. The German manufacturer, which announced this Friday the signing of Nico Hulkenberg, for its part would like to resolve the issue of its pilots as quickly as possible.

Carlos Sainz still calm about his future

But Sainz remains the master of the clocks, at least one of the masters, because Mercedes in particular is waiting to know with certainty whether Max Verstappen will honor his contract with Red Bull until 2028. As a reminder, the Batavian is announced as a potential starter following the Horner affair and the doubts emanating from Milton Keynes concerning the propensity of Red Bull Powertrain to design an ultra- complex for 2026.

In short, Mercedes and Red Bull are keeping Sainz waiting, who is himself keeping Audi waiting. The Spaniard is in any case quite calm about his future, but is careful not to lose everything by playing on all sides. Asked about the official F1 website, his cousin and agent Carlos Onoro took stock of his pilot's situation. “It's an interesting time right now, he commented. The driver market has been all over the place lately and I think we'll see some movement in the coming weeks. But, for now, the game continues.” 

As for the possibility of an imminent outcome regarding the future of Carlos Sainz, he assured that nothing was about to come out. "No no no. You can sleep peacefully between China and Miami, don't worry. There won't be any big news, at least from us, that's for sure. We’re still playing the game, so we’ll see.”
