While Ferrari signed the double in Austin in Texas, it is the fight for third place between Max Verstappen et Lando Norris which left its mark. The two men went wide after an attempt to overtake the Briton on the outside. The driver McLaren was given a five-second penalty, which cost him a place on the podium, and a few points on Verstappen, the championship leader. We also answer your questions, as we do every week!

F1 is too afraid of losing Honda and RedBull. We could well witness Verstappen's second stolen title at the end of the year. This has unfortunately become the economic model in motorsport. In WEC, the BOP modified at the last minute to the detriment of Toyota because commercially it was more interesting to have a Ferrari winner of the 100th edition, it's the same story.

If there was gravel on the outside of the corner, he would have simply sent Norris into it, it would have been retirement for the McLaren and all profit for him. As long as he can do what he wants without being worried, why deprive himself? Another problem could come from his team. By letting the Ferraris pass to whom he offers a one-two on a platter, RBR will probably lose even 2nd place to the constructors and that represents a lot of money. His egocentrism could find its limits, if he continues to play this game to the detriment of his own camp.

Max is overprotected by all authorities. Why wasn't he punished at first when he sent Lando off the track? It was deliberate.

Give us back that good old gravel in all the bends suitable for overtaking (i.e. one or two bends maximum... per circuit), it won't cost the owners much and will prevent the most cunning from keeping the inside by "forgetting" to brake in order to take the other out, even if it means going out with him!

F1 (apart from the teams and drivers) is a bunch of incompetents, most of whom have never set foot in a racing car...

For me, the biggest culprits are not the drivers. The culprits have become the circuits. These run-off areas, which are entirely made of asphalt, must absolutely be removed. The circuits have become car parks. For several years now, I have been recommending - it is starting to be adopted in Austria - to put a strip of gravel or slippery surface at least 2 metres outside the kerbs. As if by magic, we will no longer see any "suicidal" manoeuvres. And no more incessant decisions on the green carpet.

Advice to those who are overtaken on the outside: do not brake to be in front at the apex. Whatever happens, you have priority, it is the other who will be wrong!

Verstappen also deserved a 5-second penalty. Nothing stops a driver from sending an opponent off the track when overtaking and then forcing him to give up the place.
