Everyone will agree that the Monaco Grand Prix is the jewel of the Formula 1. Because of its history, its glamour, its prestige, it is THE big event on the calendar. Unfortunately, over the years, the princely round has lost its charm. With the growth of single-seaters, both in terms of size and weight, and safety standards, the Monaco Grand Prix is now reduced to long processions where the slightest overtaking is a feat. Take the most recent example, in 2024, where the race was not the most exciting with some drivers who did not even have to stop in the pits thanks to the red flag deployed on the first lap, a consequence of the accident between Sergio Pérez and the two Haas. Only the victory of Charles Leclerc at home, after so many years of curse on his lands, kept us in suspense...

In order to remedy this lack of spectacle, Formula 1 is considering adopting specific rules for the Monaco GP. At the end of the Commission held in London on Tuesday, ahead of F1 75 Live, the FIA announced that the increase in the number of mandatory stops had been validated by the teams and the main players in the discipline in order to spice up the race. If this rule still needs to be voted on by the World Council to become concrete, this first solution could lead to others. In the past, several solutions had already been raised: specific high-wear tires, modification of the layout, Sprint race with a reverse grid, etc.

In short, Formula 1 wants to make Monaco an even more unique event on the calendar. Do you like the direction the discipline has chosen? Should specific rules be introduced for the Monaco Grand Prix or, on the contrary, should the rules be kept but other aspects changed to offer a real spectacle on the track? Give your opinion on the subject via our survey below.

As for an extension of the track with a real possibility of overtaking, still nothing on the horizon!! In order to avoid processions, Liberty Media could not put pressure on the ACM (this was the case for the renegotiation of the contract, it seems) to work towards an extension rather than instituting "stupid" rules specific to Monaco?

If by spectacle we mean overtaking in the pits, they just have to reintroduce refueling and we will return to the same situation as before when there was almost nothing left on the track.
