While Yuki tsunoda has recently extended his lease which binds him to Racing Bulls until the end of 2025, the mystery around his teammate remains total. And for good reason, every big head in the fold Red Bull seems to have his own opinion on the matter. On the one hand, Helmut Marko said it recently: a young driver will take the place of Daniel Ricciardo in 2025. “The aim was for Ricciardo to be considered for a return to Red Bull. This place now belongs to Sergio Pérez, so this plan is no longer relevant, confided the Austrian to the daily Klein Zeitung. We will soon have to call on a young pilot. Then it would be Liam Lawson. »

At the same time, Peter Bayer, CEO of Racing Bulls, was particularly happy with the work carried out by Danny Ric' for this 2024 season: “Compared to last year when he joined the team, he has brought a whole new energy and spirit to the team, and he has been extremely helpful in supporting Tsunoda. Moreover, Yuki just declared it very recently; he continues to learn from Daniel. And it's part of our job, also as a shareholder mission, to develop the drivers, and that's what we're doing now. »

Do not panic

However, the former executive director of the FIA prefers to procrastinate in order to be sure of making the right decision. For the moment, the objective is to improve the car which has shown significant weaknesses for several Grands Prix, despite the introduction of a large number of developments. “Fortunately within the Red Bull Junior Team we have several options, Judge Bayer. We are in no rush to make the decision on our driver duo for last year.

We confirmed Yuki, which was very important for us. And the current goal, honestly, as you can see, is to focus on the car and approach the summer break with quiet discussions. We are doing our job to train young drivers, but the decision on the second seat will be taken quietly and we are in no hurry. »

The fact that this decision can drag on the table may benefit a certain… Isack Hadjar. Indeed, the French driver, currently fighting for the title in Formula 2, could well have a say in the event of triumph in the antechamber of the F1. At mid-season, the Red Bull protégé is 11 points behind Paul Aron. Everything has to be done…

A Kiwi (Lawson) will succeed an Aussie (Ricciardo) and the Red Bull Junior Team will provide the 2025 reservist (Hadjar), this seems already written... but we will have to wait until the summer break for the official announcement unless this good Doktor Helmooooout gives up before the holidays!
