Sad first for Fernando Alonso in 2023

The collapse continues in the camp Aston Martin. One Lance stroll has been missing on the track for months, his teammate Fernando Alonso continued to work miracles at the wheel of the AMR23 to secure valuable points.

The problems were confirmed in qualifying where Stroll and Alonso had to lower their flag from Q1.

« We had a horrible free practice session, Lance didn't do any laps, and I had six or seven quality ones with the new package., regretted the double world champion. There are too many unknowns about how the package and the new car will work. We arrived a bit blindly in qualifying and obviously we saw the result.

We will see (Saturday) if we can do a good Sprint, because the race on Sunday is strongly compromised.

There is nothing to do now, we are under a closed park regime. We can use this weekend as a test for next year, even if it's painful, so let's see what we can learn in the remaining sessions ».

Aston Martin risks losing 4th place in the Constructors' Championship. The English team was only 11 points ahead of McLaren before the US GP. However, the two MCL60s will both start from the top 10, notably with Lando Norris in the first line.
