Will the torture ever end? During the Canadian Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas et Guanyu-Zhou once again finished outside the points zone. Despite a particularly chaotic race, marked by five retirements, the two fluorescent green single-seaters were unable to take advantage of the situation to achieve a first top 10.

Throughout the races, nothing seems to change for the Swiss team. She is also the only one on the grid to still not have scored a single point this season. Resignation seems to have taken hold of the team.

In the mixed zone after the Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas was particularly impassive following another poor performance from Sauber. “We still made progress (in the standings, Bottas equaled his best result of the season Editor's note), but it's mainly thanks to the mistakes of other cars, explains the Finnish pilot. In terms of pace, we are still not in the top 10 at the moment. We have to keep making the car faster, we have to keep making improvements. We need bigger and more upgrades. Honestly, I think that's the key. »

On the other side of the garage, Guanyu Zhou doesn't particularly show a better face. The Chinese driver experienced an ordeal race where he was far from everything. The changes made to its car as well as that of Valtteri Bottas before the race, were of no help to him.

“Another difficult race, obviously the pre-race changes (on the rear wing, Editor’s note) didn't really solve the problem, he explained after the Grand Prix. There was a lot going on but for me it was a bit of a lonely race, especially in the second stint I was just alone. It's not the best weekend, but we already have something planned at the factory to check if anything was wrong with the car. I really didn't have confidence in the car. We obviously had a little more difficulty, but we will try to start from scratch for the next race in Barcelona. »

While Zhou recently showed his intention to stay in Formula 1 next year, his recent performances are far from guaranteeing him a seat for 2025... Regarding Sauber, does the team really want to continue? Or is it simply waiting for Audi to arrive in 2026?
