Verstappen, Alonso, Hülkenberg… Where are the drivers with their points-based licenses?

Each driver has 12 points on their points license, and as on the road, units can be lost depending on various infractions (collision, track limits, etc.). After the end of the 2024 season, what is the situation of the 20 drivers on the grid?

At the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Max Verstappen et Fernando Alonso are the worst off, since they only have four points left on their license! The Dutchman had a hectic final sprint, including clashes with Lando Norris in Mexico or more recently with Oscar piastri at the first bend in Abu Dhabi.

For his part, in 2024, the Spaniard lost three points in Australia for potentially dangerous driving during the race following George Russell's crash, three more points for a collision with Carlos Sainz during the Sprint in China and finally, two points for an accident with Guanyu-Zhou during the Austrian Grand Prix.

Each point lost is automatically recovered one year after the penalty was imposed: that is to say, Fernando Alonso must wait until March 24, 2025 to recover his first points. If he receives four more penalty points between now and then, he will be automatically suspended for a Grand Prix, as was the case Kevin Magnussen at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The Dane, suspended after receiving 12 penalty points, got his license back clean following this sanction. Max Verstappen will not be able to get his license back until June 30.

In total, there are 15 drivers currently on the grid who have at least one penalty point on their license.
