Technical – Draw me a 2026 F1 car

After a 2022-2025 era considered one of the least exciting in its history, Formula 1 undertook a genuine technical introspection to fundamentally rethink its future. The 2026 regulations are the culmination of this reassessment: more compact and lighter cars, active aerodynamics designed to facilitate overtaking, and above all, a new energy mix in line with the times.

The previous era may have been uninspiring, but let's see what the new one will look like before getting excited... And being fashionable, "in tune with the times", is not necessarily the main criterion for the interest of a sport.

This 2026 regulation… with the single-seaters all looking almost identical, is not the right path to follow. We need to let the engineers be creative… Just look at the 70s/80s/90s: Ferrari 312 T (Niki), Lotus 79 (Mario), Lotus 80, and the marvelous Lotus 88 (Double Chassis), the Renault RS10 (JP), Williams FW 07 (Alan), Brabham BT 46 B (Swedish GP/Niki), and many other models! F1 must remain the pinnacle of motorsport… alainkf1@pt.lu 😎FIA / BS 👎
