Third and final stop on the American tour for F1: São Paulo! The paddock is heading to the Interlagos circuit, for the Brazilian GP or rather the São Paulo GP (officially named as such since it is financed by the São Paulo region), 21st round of the 2024 season. A classic and historic event on the calendar, Brazil is hosting the discipline for the 51st time in the history of the Formula 1, the 42nd time on the Interlagos track. Like the last two seasons, the South American event will also host a Sprint format, the 5th this season.
The Interlagos circuit no longer really needs to be introduced as it is part of the history of Formula 1. An atypical track, "old-school" some would say: very short and with a lot of relief, which has seen some of the most legendary outcomes of the championship. The 2008 and 2012 Brazilian GPs are the most notable examples in recent years.
The record holder for victories at the Brazilian GP is Alain Prost, with 6 successes in South American lands. On the 2024 grid, 3 drivers have already won the Brazilian race: Lewis Hamilton (3 times), Max Verstappen (2 wins) and George Russell, who won for the first time in his F1 career in 2022. The race lap record on the Interlagos circuit is owned by Valtteri Bottas, with a time of 1’10″540 in 2018.
