The 2026 Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix schedule

It has now been three weeks since the Formula 1 was heading to a circuit for the last time. The Miami Grand Prix, the most recent race weekend, saw Andrea Kimi Antonelli confirmed as the solid championship leader. The current Formula 1 leader won for the third time this season, and in a row, ahead of the two other drivers. McLaren : Lando Norris et Oscar piastri.

This weekend, the focus shifts to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, on Île Notre-Dame, for the fifth round of the 2026 Formula 1 season. And after a three-week break, the Canadian Grand Prix will be a particularly anticipated weekend for the teams, with the arrival of new upgrades for some teams.

In a new regulation where Mercedes Benz Seems to excel, the three-pointed star brand will bring several technical innovations to Montreal, notably to the floor and rear aerodynamics of the W17. The leading force on the grid, the three-pointed star brand is one of the few teams that has not yet made any major improvements to its car since the start of the season.

At AlpineThe French team recently strengthened its aerodynamics department with the arrival of Jason Somerville, former head of aerodynamics at the FIA, in order to accelerate the development of its car in this new regulation. A strategic reinforcement whileAlpine hopes to confirm the progress and potential observed since the start of the season in Montreal.

Furthermore, the plateau of Formula 2 will also be participating this weekend. This comes after its last-minute addition to the schedule, to fill the gap left by the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia races earlier in the season due to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East. The F1 Academy will also be present on the Montreal circuit, with Lisa Billard and Jade Jacquet battling to continue their progress within the midfield.
