The 24 Hours of Le Mans, it is one of the most legendary races in the world. Every competitor obviously wants to participate and win it, and the drivers of Formula 1 do not deviate from this rule. Adding such an important title to one's record is obviously not trivial. Many of the current drivers on the grid show their interest and desire to race in Sarthe after their career in car.

Max Verstappen is a regular at endurance events… on video games. And he would like to move up a gear! In the past, the Dutchman had already mentioned a possible participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Fernando Alonso. On the occasion of the 92nd edition, the three-time world champion recalled, once again, his desire to race in France.

“I remember when I was 11 or 12, my father raced at Le Mans in LMP2, then in LMP1 the following year. It's something quite incredible, did he declare. Even back then I was a kid, but the overall vibe is fantastic. And the team factor, because it's not just you. You have to work with your teammates to try to find the right compromise with the settings. Of course, in the future I would like to run. It's an incredible event. »

More recently, it was George Russell who expressed his wish to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And the Briton would like to share this experience with one of his best friends in the paddock…

“After my career in Formula 1, I would love to race at Le Mans and maybe even do it with guys who are in F1 at the moment, commented George Russell. That would be really cool! Alex (Albon) and I talked a few years ago about doing a GT race or something together. Le Mans is a very special race. We are all racers, we love racing in Formula 1 and it takes all our effort. But in the future, for sure we want to experience some of these races. »

On hand to support his friend Mick Schumacher and the whole clan Alpine, Esteban Ocon has confirmed that he too wants to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the coming years. “Very happy to be at Le Mans, to support the team and especially my friend Mick. It's a long race, it's super interesting. I love the 24 Hours of Le Mans. One day I hope to be behind the wheel of one of these cars. »

A 100% Leclerc crew?

Charles Leclerc has a pretty crazy dream: to race the 24 Hours of Le Mans with his family. Unfortunately, this will have to wait as Formula 1 occupies an important place in the daily life of Monegasques.

“I would love to do Le Mans one day but everyone has the same problem. The Formula 1 program is now crazy (24 races per year, Editor’s note) and we have very little free time to properly prepare for a race like Le Mans, because if I take part in it, I want to arrive there ready and go there to win, he aspires. So we have to do things seriously and at the moment, with the Formula 1 calendar, it's quite difficult. But I would love to team up with my younger brother to do Le Mans together one day. »

Arthur, Charles' little brother, told us about his desire to continue in the world of endurance and to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with his two big brothers: “ It would be a dream to do Le Mans. I always watched the race on television. That always appealed to me. It is the most legendary race in the world with the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix. With my brothers, we said to ourselves that it would be great to drive one day as a family, with Charles and Lorenzo! »
