At a time when all the flagship and traditional circuits seem more or less in danger, Austria and its Grand Prix contested at the Red Bull Ring to Spielberg will remain on the calendar F1 to 2030.

The promoter has indeed announced the contract extension of the circuit which is currently hosting the 9th round of the Formula 1 world championship this weekend. A decision which should be rejoiced, given the spectacle offered by one of the shortest circuits on the calendar, with its various overtaking opportunities, from T1, to T3 via T4. It will of course remain to resolve the problem of track limits, which has become almost intrinsic to the layout, particularly at turns 9 and 10.

« I am delighted to announce this news with our partners in Austria. The passion of Dietrich Mateschitz, a man who loved the sport, made it all possible, declared Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1. “It’s a very special moment, and a tribute to him by confirming that Formula 1 will still be visiting this incredible circuit until 2030.”

As a reminder, Dietrich Mateschitz, the co-founder of Red Bull who died at the end of last year, has largely contributed since 2005 to the modernization of this circuit nestled in the Styrian mountains, to the point of having made it an obligatory passage for the F1.
