A week after the United States Grand Prix and a double Ferrari, heading to Mexico for the twentieth round of the championship! Carlos Sainz continues his good form by taking pole position, ahead of Max Verstappen. Lando Norris et Charles Leclerc, who are fighting for second place in the championship, will share the second row. Given the very long straight before the first bend, wouldn't they ultimately be best placed to aim for the lead of the event from the first bend?
Mercedes will want to play the role of referee between the four leaders starting from the third row, in front Kevin Magnussen and Pierre Gasly who places his Alpine in Q3 for the second week in a row. Alex Albon et Nico Hulkenberg complete the weekend, the Thai recovering after a complicated start to the weekend, marked by his collision with Ollie Bearman's Ferrari in Free Practice 1.
The Racing Bulls and Aston Martin follow, while Valtteri Bottas was able to find his form by qualifying 15th, just ahead of Franco Colapinto, the first of those eliminated in Q1. The Argentinian was not, however, the notable eliminated of this first part of the qualifications, since the local Sergio Pérez qualified eighteenth. In view of the performances of Lawson and tsunoda, the bucket Red Bull 2025 is very uncertain, despite Perez's contract extension. For Oscar piastri, no need to worry about losing his seat, but the Australian also disappointed in the Saturday afternoon exercise, since he will start 17th this Sunday at around 21 p.m., French time. Guanyu-Zhou will line up alone on the last line, Esteban Ocon starting from the pit lane.

Very nice pole for the Smooth Operator but the poleman has very rarely won in Mexico City because of the long straight at the start which is favourable to slipstreaming and those in the 2nd row... not forgetting that Verstappen, Leclerc, Hamilton, Gasly... are on the very, very dirty wrong side of the track!
