Tsunoda still leaves doubt about his future

While he has had a remarkable first half of the season, Yuki Tsunoda still does not have a seat for the 2025 season. A future that can be written within the Red Bull clan, or very far away.

Tsunoda still leaves doubt about his future

At the end of the contract with Racing Bulls at the end of the 2024 season, the future of Yuki tsunoda is currently very uncertain. Considered the best driver in the middle of the pack this season, the Japanese attracts the attention of several teams. Member of the fold Red Bull since 2019, the 24-year-old driver has undoubtedly wanted his career to take a turn.

Since 2021, Tsunoda has played under the colors of Racing Bulls (formerly Alpha Tauri). A team considered to be Red Bull's little sister and which, therefore, does not aspire to play at the forefront in the short term. While the Japanese driver is in his fourth season in Formula 1, its future could be written outside the Austrian fold, if the situation does not evolve...

“So far I'm very happy with Racing Bulls, smiles the person concerned. Sometimes we fight for 7th or 8th place (…) In my opinion, we are the strongest team in the middle of the pack. I think obviously, as long as I'm in the fold, you always have to aim for Red Bull. But if they don't want me or if they don't expect me to take the place, if I have an interesting offer that might be better than Racing Bulls or Red Bull, I'll go for it. I'll think about it. »

What are the other possibilities?

If the seat of Sergio Pérez (or Max Verstappen ?) is not offered to him, Yuki Tsunoda could very well go and see a new project, where he would be, why not, pilot n°1. However, the offers are not numerous.

Besides the fact that the Japanese is a Red Bull driver, it is important to emphasize that he is above all supported by Honda, the team's next engine manufacturer. Aston Martin (from 2026). “I also have great loyalty to Red Bull, because without them I wouldn’t be here. And obviously Honda too… maybe Aston Martin, but they already have their two drivers. It's pretty open, but so far I'm happy with Racing Bulls. »

Yuki Tsunoda is approaching a key moment in his young career. He has the possibility of continuing his adventure with Racing Bulls to aim for a seat at Red Bull in the near future, or he can decide to leave the Austrian fold to start a new story with a team which will put him at the center of its project.
