With mid-season fast approaching, it is time to take stock of the different performances of the drivers in the qualifying exercise (this ranking does not include Sprint qualifying).

Verstappen far ahead

The three-time world champion dominates everyone during qualifying. Although the RB20 seems to be within reach of Ferrari and Mercedes in the race, the trend in qualifying is different. In nine qualifications, Max Verstappen achieved seven pole positions. His performance in Monaco (6th on the grid) tarnishes his average a little even if it remains, obviously, much better than that of all the other drivers on the grid.

Ferrari and McLaren in a pocket handkerchief

As we see on track during the Grands Prix, the drivers McLaren and Ferrari are within a few tenths or even thousandths. This trend is also visible when we look at their average position on the starting grid. Lando Norris very slightly ahead Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque's 11th place in Canada did not necessarily make his task easier...

Tsunoda, the best of the rest

We already knew this thanks to his numerous racing performances, but even in the qualifying exercise Yuki tsunoda dominates all drivers, excluding the top 5 team (except Lance stroll). 10.22 is the average position of the Japanese on the grid. In comparison, Daniel Riccardo has an average position of 12,56.

Zhou last in class

There had to be one who had to wear the dunce cap, that of the class dunce. And this price comes to Guanyu-Zhou with an average position of 18,56. Indeed, the Chinese driver is the only one to have been constantly eliminated in Q1 (during qualifying for the Grand Prix).

Zhou, the last in the exercise but at the wheel of a Saubersteakick ... but the only Chinese in the field, which could help him to still be present in 2025, China being the world's leading automobile market!
