Lando Norris can enjoy: he is world champion! Well, Constructors' world champion, yes, but the Briton was the major player in this consecration for McLaren, the first obtained by the Woking team since 1998. Winner for the fourth time this season in Abu Dhabi, the Englishman finished runner-up in the world championship behind Max Verstappen and scored 374 points, obviously the best total of his career in Formula 1. " You all deserve it. Thank you very much. It was a special year. Next year will be my year too!”, Lando Norris said on his radio after taking the checkered flag.

For the first time in his career, the 25-year-old driver was in contention for the Drivers' title until Las Vegas, where Max Verstappen definitively got his hands on his fourth title. An experience at the highest level that will inevitably benefit him in 2025, as he hopes to start the season better than in 2024 in order to be directly involved in the fight for the title. "We want to win the constructors' championship and the drivers' championship next year, assumes Lando Norris"I made mistakes this year, but I learned a lot, from Max [Verstappen] and my competitors around me. As happy as I am now, I am excited to start next year."

Norris happy to restore McLaren's image

Imperial in Abu Dhabi – perhaps his most impressive victory of the season with Singapore – Lando Norris led the race from start to finish to secure the title for McLaren. A mature drive, worthy of a world champion in the making. After this final round, Lando Norris did not hide his joy and pride in having won a first crown with his long-time team… and this, despite the first lap scare and the elimination ofOscar piastri by Max Verstappen in the first round.

"Today was a very special day for all of us. We had everything to lose today and I'm sure at some points people thought it was close to being lost, recognizes Lando Norris. For a minute my heart was like, 'Oh my God, that doesn't seem so likely' (after the clash between Verstappen and Piastri). But if I stayed focused, I knew I could do what I had to do. But the fact that we won a championship for the first time in 26 years, that's an unthinkable expectation when you're talking about McLaren. For me, and for Oscar, it's something we're incredibly proud of. And to have achieved that for the team, it put a big smile on everyone's face." See you in 2025, then, for Lando Norris and McLaren who will legitimately have greater ambitions next year.
