Associated with various teams in recent weeks, Alex Albon will ultimately not move from Grove (Great Britain). The stable Williams has, in fact, announced on Wednesday May 15 in the morning the extension of the Thai pilot's contract. An extension which runs over “several years” indicates the press release, without giving further details.

« I am incredibly excited to stay at Williams Racing and continue to work with such a talented and dedicated team, rejoices the former pilot Red Bull. It's been a difficult start to the year, but since joining Williams we've made significant progress together and I've seen the huge changes happening behind the scenes to get us back to the front of the grid. »

« This is a long-term project that I really believe in and want to play a key role in, which is why I signed a multi-year contract, adds the Thai. The journey will take time, but I am confident that we are building the right team to move forward and achieve great things in the years to come. »

« We are delighted to secure Alex's long-term future with Williams Racing, adds James Vowles, Team Principal of Williams Racing. He has exceptional talent, he makes his technical contribution and he is dedicated to the cause. His extension a huge vote of confidence in Williams and our project to progress in the hierarchy. Since his arrival, Alex has consistently demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure, and recruiting him for the long term is an important piece of the puzzle in moving us forward up the grid. »

Alex Albon is yet to score a point with the English team this season, his best results being 11th places in Saudi Arabia and Australia. Next meeting, this weekend in Imola for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.

Is this really a surprise? The surprise would have been the announcement of an extension for Sargeant!!!
