For this to happen, Yuki Tsunoda, who had been eliminated in Q1 three times in a row recently and had not reached Q3 since the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, still needed to wake up. Which he did.

The ideal strategy was therefore implemented right from the end of qualifying, when the Japanese driver gave his teammate a tow, allowing him to put himself in a strong position for pole position for the Grand Prix. He ultimately secured this position a few minutes later. As for Tsunoda, he finished Q3 in 10th place after his lap was cancelled for exceeding track limits.

The Japanese man continued: “I’m very happy, honestly qualifying wasn’t easy. Especially with the old floor. I did my best and I knew it was going to be very difficult to get into Q3. I made it through and I was able to help Max; I need to continue to help him as much as possible in the race as well. Without that, I’ll probably have a very basic strategy, but we’ll see what happens.”
