The 24 Hours of Nürburgring have remained true to their incomparable racing legend in 2025. While the Porsche The 911 GT3 R of Kévin Estre, Ayhançan Güven and Thomas Preining crossed the finish line in 1st place this Sunday at 16 p.m., the German car was penalized 1 minute and 40 seconds! This penalty was added to its total race time, which made it lose the benefit of the victory.

Finishing just a few seconds behind Kevin Estre's Porsche, the BMW M4 GT3 of Kelvin van der Linde, Raffaele Marciello, Jesse Krohn, and Augusto Farfus took the win! A significant feat, as it was the only BMW M4 GT3 entered in this edition of the Nürburgring 24 Hours. The Rowe Racing team recorded its first victory in the Green Hell. For BMW, this was its 21st victory in the competition.

The penalty imposed on Kevin Estre is the result of a collision on Sunday morning. The French driver was surprised by the driving of theAston Martin Rolf Scheibner's Vantage GT4, which held its usual line as the race leader, under pressure from Raffaele Marciello, tried to overtake him on the inside of a bend:

A 100-second penalty was issued by the stewards. But the Manthey-Racing team immediately appealed. A few minutes before the finish, Race Direction deemed this appeal "inadmissible" and rejected it.

The Dinamic GT team finished on the third step of the podium with Matteo Cairoli, Loek Hartog, Joel Sturm and Bastian Buus. Marco Mapelli, Christian Engelhart and Lucas Engstler (Lamborghini) finished 4th. For its first outing at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, the Ford Mustang finished a fine 5th place with Dennis Fetzer, David Schumacher (Ralf Schumacher's son), Salman Owega and Jusuf Owega.

At Daytona '22 it was Jaminet vs Vanthoor and not Estre.

JB TRICHARD Yes Kevin Estre is a very fast driver, but this is not the first time that he loses his nerve when he is under pressure we have seen it several times in IMSA GTD pro already on Porsche I remember one arrival at the 1h of Daytona I think (24 or 2 years ago) where he did not hesitate to throw his teammate and French opponent on the other Porsche..As for this WE again it is his impatience which played tricks on him..with 3s in advance he could afford to lose 11 or 2 especially since the Porsche seemed to fly

Video to support this, Kevin Estre is right. The worst thing is that BMW has a penalty, canceled. What should we think of it? When will we have a great Marshall like at Le Mans? This is not the first time that Porsche has been sanctioned at the Nürburgring.

And excellent decision by the race director to give the penalty before the podium ceremony...

Estre is one of the good GT drivers, but in this case, he rushes forward, forces his way through, and sends the Aston careening onto its roof. At the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring, ignoring the amateurs isn't very subtle.

It's a disgrace for the race directors to have waited until the last lap... to confirm this sanction... When you see the images, seen and reviewed, the fault is obvious, and lies mainly with the Aston... It's a scandal, quite simply... 👎👀😎👀👎👀🤨
