René Rast is an experienced driver. The three-time champion DTM has once again reminded everyone that he will be a force to be reckoned with in 2025. The German was not in a good position, just 3 meetings ago, stuck in the soft underbelly of the standings. The three-time champion of the discipline went through the summer like a tornado, ravaging everything in his path. This resounding comeback, confirmed by this victory, allows him to move into the forefront of the general classification. Admittedly by the smallest of margins (2 points ahead of Lucas Auer) but he can be optimistic. The victory at Red Bull The Ring didn't take long to take shape, as Rast was so dominant. He battled a bit with his teammate Marco Wittmann (Schubert Motorsport) at the start of the race, but gradually managed to pull away and was never troubled even after his pit stop.

Jack Aitken from hero to zero points

At the time of tire changes, Jack Aitken (Ferrari 296 GT3- Emil Frey Racing) manages to pass Marco Wittmann on colder tires than the British driver. Firmly installed in second place, Aitken is now virtually the leader of the DTM. He even has a 15-point lead over Lucas Auer, who is stuck in the rankings between 12th and 14th place. Jordan Pepper (GRT- Lamborghini Huracan), Thomas Preining (Manthey EMA, Porsche), Ayhancan Güven (Manthey EMA, Porsche) are all very far behind the Briton's Ferrari. However, the unthinkable happens! Four corners from the checkered flag, Aitken makes a mistake under pressure from Wittmann who has come back in his wake, his Ferrari ends up in the tire wall, leaving all his opponents to pass him one by one. Aitken falls in the general classification, he is now 4th, eight points behind Rast! When we talk about misfortune, we can still mention Jules Gounon (Mercedes- Winward Racing) who finished this round with a smoking AMG GT3, the Franco-Andorran crossed the finish line in 8th position. Jordan Pepper benefited from Aitken's retirement to gain a place and finish 7th in the race, keeping him more than ever in the title race with a three-point deficit to Rast. Lucas Auer finished 12th in this first home race on a tricky track for his team. The Austrian nevertheless saved his chances of overall victory.

There are three races left to decide the champion of a fantastic season! It all starts this Sunday with the second round at the Red Bull Ring starting at 3:13 p.m.
