Now official driver PorscheGüven announced on his social media his departure from the grid of DTMA few weeks after clinching the title in the final round of the Hockenheim final, having achieved his goal of joining the league, the Turk will now move on to other opportunities.
“I will not be on the DTM grid in 2026. This title was my childhood dream, one I worked towards for many years, and I was able to finish the year by winning the crown and seeing all my efforts rewarded. It was not an easy decision to leave this championship. I remember the excitement of my first DTM race. With a unique opportunity in a car I had never driven before, I was able to prove my ability and move up to a full-time position the following year. This led to three fantastic seasons and a DTM championship title. Thank you for your support throughout this journey.”
Ayhancan Güven also confirmed that his 2026 program, comprised of "new and exciting challenges," would be announced as early as this Monday. By joining the list of official Porsche drivers, Güven could compete in numerous GT championships in the coming year, like the other drivers for the German marque. He also participated, again for Porsche, in the Rookie Test of the Formula E this season.
In October, Güven became the first Turkish driver to win the title in the German championship, which switched to GT3 regulations in 2021, after several years of Class One regulations, still used today by GT500 cars in Super GT in Japan.
