Alpine Cup Series – Nogaro, Race 1: Léo Jousset opens the ball

THEAlpine The Cup Series opened its season this weekend at the Nogaro circuit in Gers. Contrary to the southwest's sunny reputation, the Easter Cups were marked by rain, and the first of the two races in the inaugural round, held this Sunday, was no exception. In this tricky environment, it was Léo Jousset who managed to pull off a triumphant victory.

Despite the heavy rain, the race remained calm. Only Junior driver Louka Desgranges was caught out by oversteer at Turn 13 midway through the race. His excursion led to the Safety Car, and he was forced to retire.

As a reminder, the discipline is divided into four categories: Juniors (under 22 years old), Challengers (23 to 44 years old without major track records), Pros (seasoned drivers) and Gentlemen (over 45 years old). Thus, the Pros logically dominated the race in this thorny weather. Romain Monti, third on the starting grid with his Alpine No. 10, overtook the first roundAlpine blue-white-red of Junior Tom Verdier. In difficulty on the wet track, theAlpine No. 08 of the Junior, finished fifth.

For his part, Romain Monti continued his efforts and continued to challenge Léo Jousset for first place, repeatedly flashing his lights. Nevertheless, the Angevin made no mistakes and was able to convert his pole position into a victory, his seventh in the category. He is off to the best possible start to a season that he failed to win last year at the final round.

The final podium spot was a battle of wills down to the final lap between Thibault Bossy (Challenger), Victor Weyrich (Pro), and Tom Verdier (Junior). In this battle, it was Pro rider Victor Weyrich who made the difference and crossed the checkered flag in third place.

The second race at the Nogaro circuit will take place on Monday at 12:00 p.m. It will be broadcast live on the channel YouTube and the Facebook page of theAlpine ELF Cup Series. The next meeting is scheduled for the weekend of May 30 at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.
