Broc Feeney takes the win by the narrowest margin recorded this weekend. Less than two-tenths of a second separated him from the fastest man since Friday morning, Brodie Kostecki of Dick Johnson Racing. Starting from pole position, the Triple Eight driver managed to maintain his lead for all 19 laps! The two safety car periods did nothing to disrupt Feeney's progress. In complete control during the restarts, he managed to fend off Kostecki's repeated attacks. The two drivers remained very respectful of each other, which made the race all the more spectacular.
Cameron Waters (Ford Mustang n°6 – Tickford Racing), Kai Allen (Ford Mustang n°26 – Whole grained Racing) and Chaz Mostert also joined in this exciting battle. Mostert secured another good result for the young Toyota Supra
A chaotic race
Round 6 of the championship was not without its share of dramatic moments! Numerous incidents disrupted the race for several favorites. Matt Payne (Ford Mustang #19 – Grove Racing) was one of the main victims on the first lap. The championship leader was caught between the pack and the wall. As a result, his Mustang, seriously damaged, had to retire, suffering three punctures!
Another driver who suffered a terrible fate was Will Brown (Ford Mustang #888 – Triple Eight Engineering). Unlucky since the start of the season, the 2024 champion endured another difficult race. Brown seems to have developed a bad habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This time again, a collision with Aaron Cameron (Ford Mustang #3 – Blanchard Racing Team) relegated him to 21st place.
In the championship standings, he now trails his teammate Feeney, the new leader this Saturday, by 266 points. For the Triple Eight driver, however, pole position for Sunday's race could be an opportunity to turn things around.
The disappointment is also huge for Cameron Waters, who could have scored another podium finish and confirmed the good start to the season for the Blanchard Racing Team drivers.
Broc Feeney won Race 2 ahead of Kostecki and Waters, who returned to the podium. Feeney regained the championship lead heading into the final race of the weekend. He will, however, have a bit of work ahead of him tomorrow morning, as he will start from 11th on the grid. This final race will be broadcast live from noon French time.
