The 62 in the lead but three cars are tailing it
In the immense infrastructure of the famous circuit, dedicated entirely to the Lamera Cup This weekend, we're content with a few sips of coffee swallowed in a hurry. The longest endurance race in the world is far from over. With a start at 14:30 p.m. on Saturday, the countdown indicates that there are still 9 hours of competition left on the Algarve track.
And the pace imposed by the leading peloton indicates that we are far from the Sunday stroll. Thus, the leaders had completed 466 laps at the time of writing these lines. Certainly, the 62 of the team Lamera is used to rubbing shoulders with the top of the formula monarch but its drivers have no interest in opting for contemplative mode. Thus, the 41 of Scania France makes life difficult for it with one to two laps behind depending on the pit stops.
On the 3rd step of this virtual podium, it is the 1 (the Lamera of the reigning champions) that we are pleased to find. The one that proudly wears the colors of L'Auto Leclerc began a wild sprint. On Saturday, the start had barely been given when it stopped, with a broken right rear drive shaft. A push back to the pits, a hyper-efficient intervention by the mechanics (2 min 30) and the Lamera 1 was back on track. Which relegated it to the depths of the ranking, 4 laps behind the leaders. Since then, the car has continued to work hard to reposition itself in provisional 3rd place.
In the Pro-Am category, it is the 70 (CTF – 2Be3) that leads the dance with a nice 6th place overall. On the gentlemen's side, it is the CTF Make that continues to dominate the class reserved for the least experienced drivers. A nice 11th position confirms the form of the car and its drivers.
